Dear Editor,

I am writing about two poor decisions made by the Gilroy Department of Public Works. The errors involve the chip-seal project in the Villagio neighborhood.

First, the work was scheduled for a Tuesday, the day of the week that trash is normally picked up. The road will be closed on this day. This is a needless inconvenience to the residents.

Second, one of the maps included with the city’s recent letter shows that Greenfield Drive and Village Place will not be sealed or closed down on Tuesday, Aug. 16, yet the Public Works Department has posted signs banning parking in the ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOOD on that Tuesday including those two streets. This is an even greater inconvenience than the above.

In the future, please make an effort to avoid what I can only hope are simple mistakes and not part of a pattern of ignoring the needs of Gilroy residents.
