Plea to Young Thieves Who Stole the Lighted Reindeer From Downtown Display
Dear Editor,
Our downtown Gilroy is looking so wonderful and we appreciate all the hard work the businesses, city officials, community volunteers and agencies are contributing to this effort. It saddens us to report that some young people were seen taking the lighted reindeer from the downtown holiday tree display at Monterey and Fifth Street.
We all take pride in our community and hope that these reindeer may come back some day and grace this tree again.

I would like to extend a a bushel of thanks to the wonderful audience that attended the Gavilan College Concert Choir Concert at Advent Lutheran Church in Morgan Hill on Friday evening.
Our intent was to make your holiday season merry and bright and your support, praise and the smiles on your faces told us that we succeeded! Be sure to check the paper for the date of our spring concert.
Wishing everyone a peaceful holiday filled with good music!

Community Event Will Help Spread Holiday Cheer to Many This Christmas Season
Dear Editor,
I would like to thank our new 28th Assembly district representative, Anna Caballero, for taking the time out of her busy schedule to attend our fundraiser breakfast on Dec. 8 in Downtown Gilroy. After being sworn in on Monday and becoming familiar with Sacramento, Anna surprised our guests by personally giving out California Legislative Certificates of Recognition to our award recipients.
Gilroy Mayor Al Pinheiro also stopped by to address the crowd and support our event.
We acknowledged Gilroy Unified School District Board Members in attendance – Javier Aguirre, Denise Apuzzo and Francisco Dominguez. Congratulations to our “Past Present and Future” Community Leaders Award recipients Charlie Morales, Lupe Arellano, Jim Rogers, Councilman Peter Arellano, Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero, Michelle Guitierrez, Williams Dental, Lizette Diaz and Nancy Marquez.
This fundraiser was a benefit for our annual “Every Child Deserves a Present” Christmas giveaway. Thanks to all of the people in attendance, sponsors, silent auction and raffle supporters! Their generosity will enable organizations to invite 120 families and help spread holiday cheer. Last but not least, thanks to our volunteer organizers and those who made beautiful centerpieces that were raffled off. Antonia Rubio, Maria Pasillas, Santa Alvarez, Yadira Rios, Jovita Murillo, Marbella Lopez, Nicole Hobden, Saul Gonzalez, Victor Frias and Daniel Chavez!
