GILROY – Despite a two-run home run from Adrian Rivera in the
third inning, the Braves fell to the Rangers 9-3 on Saturday in
Gilroy Little League Majors baseball action.
Also, the Heat knock off previously undefeated Bandits in Majors
softball.
GILROY – Despite a two-run home run from Adrian Rivera in the third inning, the Braves fell to the Rangers 9-3 on Saturday in Gilroy Little League Majors baseball action.

The Braves were also helped offensively with singles by Brevin Zollinger and Kole Culbertson, and doubles by Rivera and Scott Fernald.

Rivera started on the hill for the Braves, striking out seven, before a trio of relief pitchers, Mike Sosa, Brevin Zollinger and closer Mario Anchondo, finshed out the game

Rangers’ starter, Anthonee Bartholic tossed five strikeouts, reliever Darren Santos threw five strikeouts and closer Max Kent had two.

Sam Kent, Bartholic and Chris Spohr each pounded doubles, Santos earned a single, and Max Kent recorded two base hits to help the Rangers’ cause offensively. Brandon Carmichael drove in the final run of the game. Defensively, first baseman Eric Heiser recorded five put outs and an unassisted double play.

MAJORS SOFTBALL

The Earthbound Farm Heat handed the Dr. Tommy Tong Orthodontics Bandits its first loss of the season on Saturday with a score of 8-1 in a girls softball Majors contest.

Maddie Cox and Olivia Moore each scored two runs for the Heat. Lauren Castro had another strong pitching performance, striking out 12 in six innings.

Makayla Decker had the only hit for the Bandits and Angelica Reyes scored their lone run.
