Judge to enter District Attorney race
San Jose – Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Ron Del Pozzo announced he will take a leave from the bench to run for district attorney. A prosecutor for 12 years before he became a judge, Del Pozzo said he looks forward “to using my experience and fair-minded approach to ensure that this district attorney’s office is an effective protector of public safety.”
The election to replace outgoing District Attorney George Kennedy is June 6, 2006.
JJ Hawg plays downtown Gilroy Friday night
Gilroy – Join the Downtown Business Association and the Theater Angels Art League for a new downtown music series every Friday from 7 to 8:30pm on Fifth Street between Eigleberry and Monterey.
The concerts are free and open to the public, but they are BYOC – Bring Your Own Chair. This Friday, enjoy the classic rock band JJ Hawg.
Volunteers needed for this year’s Garlic Festival
Gilroy – The Gilroy Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is looking for volunteers to man this year’s hospitality at the Gilroy Garlic Festival during shifts on July 29, 30 and 31 from 11:30am to 3:30pm, and 3:30 to 7:30pm.

Auditions for teen performers this weekend
Gilroy – South Valley Civic Theatre will be holding auditions for teen performers for their production of ‘Count Dracula,’ a drama based on Bram Stoker’s 19th century novel, ‘Dracula.’
The show is produced by Richard and Becky Kaiser and directed by JoAnna Evans. They are looking for seven young men and two young women between the age of 13 and 19.
Prepare a short monologue of one to three minutes in length. Bring a resume and a photograph.
Auditions will be held on Saturday at 9am and 12:30pm. Also on Sunday at 9:30am at the SVCT warehouse, 8565 Monterey Road.
