Grand opening of Eliot

Gilroy – The public is invited to attend the grand opening of Eliot Elementary Friday from 1:30 to 2:30pm.

The dedication ceremony was originally scheduled for Oct. 21 but was delayed to honor the late TJ Owens. Owens was serving as president of the Gilroy Unified School District board at the time of his death.

Visitors can check out the new facility. Refreshments will be served.

CMAP to host PSA Day

Gilroy – CMAP is hosting it’s quarterly PSA Day Friday. You can make a free public service announcement in the studio and it will air on Channel 20. Only a few spaces left.

Christmas Arts & Craft Fair

Gilroy – St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church will be hosting it’s 5th annual Christmas Arts & Craft Fair Friday and Saturday from 10am to 5pm. Admission is free.

Hand made dolls, quilts, pottery, jewelry, knitted baby gifts, and more all made by local craftspeople, will be available for purchase.

St. Stephen’s will host a country store selling home made breads, cookies, jams, and other goodies. The kitchen will open at 10am to offer coffee, lunch and soft drinks.

Take a tour through cemetery

Gilroy – Meet your ancestors in Gilroy’s oldest cemetery Saturday morning.

The walking tour will meet at 10am in front of the Serra Cottage at 7950 Church St. and progress across the street to Old St. Mary cemetery.

Breakfast benefits charities

Gilroy – Branch 28 of the Italian Catholic Federation presents it’s semi-annual Scholarship Breakfast on Sunday. Breakfast will be served 7:30 to 11:30am at Cullen Hall, St. Mary Church, 11 First St.

Adults $5; Children under 12 $3. Proceeds benefit Branch 28 Scholarship Programs and other ICF Charities.

Get tips at health workshop

Gilroy – Gilroy Presbyterian Church Health Ministries invites the public to a workshop led by church member and attorney Ken McDonald, who will answer questions about the Advance Health Care Directive that replaces the older methods of making medical care decisions. The workshop will be held Sunday at 10:30am at the church. There is no charge, but reservations are required.
