Principal search down to four
Gilroy – The hunt for a new Gilroy High School Principal continues today after panelists narrowed the field by three Monday.
“It’s looking pretty hopeful,” said Gilroy Unified School District’s Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, Linda Piceno. “We don’t usually have this many (move on). It’s a good problem to have.”
Two panel groups comprised of community members, district employees, and GHS parents and students interviewed all seven applicants, cutting three from the list and moving four to today’s next step. All four will meet with another review panel before meeting with the executive team, comprised of all four district superintendents.
The principal’s job opened in late June after Bob Bravo resigned to accept a job in the East Bay. The new principal will earn between $92,306 to $109,784.
‘Spare the Air’ day free rides
Gilroy – The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority will offer free rides today to mark the season’s first “Spare the Air” day. Hot and stagnant weather contributes to ground-level ozone, a situation worsened by automobile emissions.
To raise the profile of public transit, agencies throughout the Bay Area will offer free commutes on the first five “Spare the Air” days.
Three openings on SM board
San Martin – There are three openings on the San Martin Planning Advisory Committee, a body that advises county planners on projects in San Martin.
Residents interested in serving on the committee should contact Rachael Gibson, land use aide to Supervisor Don Gage, at 299-5010.
