The Morgan Hill Gymnastics Team traveled to Sunnyvale on
Saturday to compete in the Flip Into Fall Invitational.
SUNNYVALE – The Morgan Hill Gymnastics Team traveled to Sunnyvale on Saturday to compete in the Flip Into Fall Invitational.
The Level 4s brought home a second-place trophy for Team Awards. (Level 5s do not have enough competitors to be eligible for team awards).
Ten-year old Amanda Suniga led the Level 5s with a third-place showing in the all-around – including a first-place mark on beam, fourth on both floor and bars, and a 13th-place score on vault. Teammate Melina Sagor, 10, finished 11th in the all-around with marks of seventh on beam, ninth on bars, 15th on floor, and 17th on vault.
At the Level 4 competition for ages 7-8, Jordan Fedalizo, 8, placed second in the all-around with first-place tallies on both beam and vault, second on floor and sixth on bars. Seven-year-old Samantha Laird finished fifth in the all-around by placing third on floor, fourth on beam, seventh on bars, and 16th on vault. Teammate Caroline Seifert, 7, took 16th in the all-around – placing fourth on floor, eight on vault, and 11th on beam. In addition, 8-year-old Alexis DeHaven – who is still recovering from a shoulder injury – placed third on beam.
Up an age group for 9-10 year olds, Alex Saquella, 9, led the way with a seventh-place showing in the all-around – scoring third on vault, seventh on beam, ninth on floor, and 10th on bars. Ten-year-old Emelie Hertz took ninth in the all-around – placing seventh on bars, eighth on beam, 10th on floor, and 12th on vault. Teammate Danielle Risner, 9, finished 10th in the all-around by placing fourth on bars, ninth on beam, 11th on vault, and 13th on floor. Rounding out the group was 9-year-old Jaime Webb – who took 11th overall with a first-place mark on floor, ninth on vault, 12th on beam and 14th on bars.
In the 11-and-older division, 12-year-old Jaclyn Dixon won her all-around with a first-place mark on floor, second on both bars and vault, and third on beam.
