A slew of youth wrestlers from Gilroy put on impressive performances during the month of January.
Gilroy Hawks club wrestlers Austin Gutierrez, Dallas Gutierrez and Chad Sokomoto all did their team proud by winning their divisions at the Games of Rome tournament, held Jan. 17 at Selland Arena in Fresno.
Other local wrestlers made their mark at the El Dorado Hills Wrestling Tournament on Jan. 109, taking place at Oak Ridge High School on Jan. 10.
Middle schoolers Isaiah Locsin and Nico Villarreal both won their age/weight divisions in the varsity level of the tournament, while Adam Mena and Juan Villarreal, both fourth graders, took first at the 89- and 85-pound junior varsity levels, respectively.
