The man was walking in the 450 block of Lewis Street about 8 p.m. Saturday when a vehicle with four occupants pulled alongside the victim. One man got out of the vehicle and made references to street gangs. The victim denied any gang affiliation, but the lone attacker attempted to assault the man, who was injured while defending himself, police said.
He was treated and released from Saint Louise Regional Hospital.
