Mary Porter, 84, died Jan. 26, 2004, at her Hollister home. She was born in Seymour, Mo.
She came to Hollister from Shenandoah, Iowa, 50 years ago. She was a nurse’s aid for many years, working at Hazel Hawkins Hospital, Southside Convalescent Hospital and Wheeler Hospital. She enjoyed spending most of her time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Porter, who died in 1967; her children and their spouses, Paul and Carolyn Porter of Bandon, Ore., Thelma Trickett, of Hollister, Peggy Hone, of Hollister, Carolyn and Johnny Ramirez, of Firebaugh, Jim Porter, of Hollister, Bob Porter, of San Juan Bautista, Betty Wilder, of Soledad, and Charles Porter, of Hollister; her sister, Beatrice Gladdin, of Hollister, 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by friends and family from out of town, Wayland Johns and Lorraine Wright of Idaho
Friends can pay their respects today until 9 p.m. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home, Hollister. Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the IOOF Cemetery in Hollister.
