Matthew Aaron Lopez died Saturday, Dec. 6, as a result of an
automobile accident. He was 18.

He was born and raised in Hollister and was a 2003 graduate of San Benito High School. He was attending Gavilan College.
He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Mexican American Golf Association. While attending Gavilan, he worked for the San Juan Oaks Pro Shop.
He is survived by his parents Bob and Laura Lopez, of Hollister; maternal grandparents Dan and Susan Mesa, of San Juan Bautista; paternal grandmother Angie Lopez, of San Juan Bautista; sister Michelle Lopez, of Hollister; brother-in-law Jess Perez Sr., of Hollister, and nephew Jess Perez Jr., of Hollister. He was the nephew of David and Marylou Mesa, of Prunedale, Diane Mesa, of San Juan Bautista, Paul and Meghan Mesa, of San Jose, John and Rose Torres of Azusa, Carlos and Marie Rod-riguez, of Santa Maria, Frank and Carmen Perez, of San Juan Bautista, Kico and Stephanie Sanchez, of Hollister, Joey and Patsy Patino, of Hollister, and Angelo and Tina Magano, of Gilroy. He is also survived by numerous cousins.
Friends may visit at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home on Thursday, after 3 p.m. until the Rosary service to be held at 7 p.m. in the mortuary chapel. Funeral services will be Friday at the Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. proceeding to Old Mission San Juan for a funeral Mass commencing at 11 a.m.
Burial and graveside services will follow at San Juan District Cemetery.
