First Street bumps

Mayor Roland Velasco announced emergency repairs beginning Sunday to blighted First Street.
Here’s his message:
“By now you should know that First Street is a State Highway. I’ve been working with Sacramento elected officials to highlight the deteriorating condition of First Street.
“To that end, Caltrans allocated $1 million in emergency funding to repair some of the worst spots. The current schedule is to start on Sunday night, June 11th. The work will be done at night between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights, for about 1.5 to maybe 2 weeks. The intersections will be done first, and mainline work will get done as funding allows.
These are only emergency repairs and it is not the complete repaving project that needs to occur. There will be lane closures and CHP onsite to assist. I am still pushing Caltrans to speed up the repaving timeline and to coordinate with our underground waterline project.”
