The public is invited to a virtual meeting on Oct. 25 at 6pm regarding a proposed electronic billboard and associated zoning ordinance. No decisions will be made at this meeting.

In 2018, the City of Gilroy received an application to construct an electronic billboard on Automall Parkway and a request to change city code to allow this type of billboard. The City retained FirstCarbon Solutions to analyze the environmental impacts of the proposed project and amendment.

The applicant has requested approval to construct and operate a 75-foot tall electronic billboard with a 672-square-foot display area, adjacent to Highway 101. The project requires an amendment of the City Code to allow such signage, which is currently prohibited. The proposed code amendments would permit a maximum of two electronic billboards within the City on property with a General Services Commercial or City Gateway District designation located within 660 feet of Highway 101.

The environmental review is now complete and available for review at gilroy.city/DAP
