Morro Bay – The medical marijuana dispensary shut down by Atascadero city officials has found a new home in Morro Bay.

Central Coast Compassionate Caregivers obtained a business license and expects to open April 1, lawyer Louis Koory said.

Compassionate Caregivers opened in Atascadero on Jan. 9, but the City Council later ordered the dispensary to close while an ordinance governing such businesses is drawn up.

Debut of touch screen voting

Santa Cruz – Touch screen voting will debut this June in Santa Cruz County.

The Board of Supervisors approved spending $2.3 million for 165 machines that will be in place at polling stations in November, with some making an early debut this June.

The machines, made by Sequoia Voting System Inc., are now required to help some disabled voters cast their ballot privately and independently.
