The former Gilroy Unified School District Board of Education trustee who is already facing charges for embezzling $52,000 from a leading South County social services agency is now up against additional charges for allegedly embezzling thousands of dollars from his 2010 campaign account.

Police officers conducted several minor decoy/Should Tap operations throughout Morgan Hill last Saturday, April 27 and made four arrests for furnishing alcohol to a minor, according to Corpl. Scott Purivs with MHPD.

The Hollister woman who tried to slip a sleep-aid drug into children’s drinks at the Morgan Hill day care facility where she worked pleaded no contest to attempted child endangerment at South County Courthouse Thursday.

As party-goers celebrate Cinco de Mayo with mariachi music and authentic cuisine this weekend, many will also indulge with their favorite margarita or tequila, then choose to get behind the wheel and drive to their next destination. That’s why this year the Santa Clara County Avoid the 13 DUI Task Force is joining with others across the state and nation to encourage everyone to plan ahead this Cinco de Mayo and not drink and drive, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s office.

Gilroy Police officers responded to an in-progress residential burglary at 10:30 a.m. today on the 7100 block of Pitlochry Drive that resulted in the arrest of three minor suspects and one adult suspect, according to a GPD press release.

The results are in from the recent DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint conducted by Gilroy Police Department’s Traffic Unit on April 19 in Gilroy. Approximately 550 cars drove through the checkpoint, according to Gilroy PD Sgt. Pedro Espinoza. One driver was arrested for DUI; a second driver was arrested for a felony warrant; 20 citations were issued to drivers for driving unlicensed; and eight citations were issued to drivers driving on a suspended license.

A lack of rainfall, making this one of the driest first four months of the year on record, as well as an early increase in fire activity has Cal Fire gearing up for a busy fire season this summer.

A man allegedly tried to steal a pickup parked at a Morgan Hill shopping center, while the vehicle’s owner was napping in the back seat.
