Crews from the Gilroy and Morgan Hill Fire Departments, South Santa Clara Fire District and Calfire responded to a roughly 40-acre vegetation fire at Frazier Lake Road and Bloomfield Avenue in Gilroy this afternoon. At around 3:30 p.m. firefighters were working on "cutting off the head," or containing the head of the fire, according to an employee from Treehaven station on Hecker Pass Road.

The preliminary hearing for the five young men accused of killing 14-year-old Tara Romero in a 2011 drive-by shooting was continued again Monday, and the Morgan Hill victim’s family is increasingly anxious about the repeated delays.

Officers from the Gilroy Police Department responding to multiple 911 calls about gunfire on the 7500 block of Alexander Street Saturday evening discovered a 20-year-old male from Gilroy had been shot.

Antolin Garcia Torres, 22 of Morgan Hill, appeared in court Thursday for the first time since December to face charges that he kidnapped and murdered Sierra LaMar, but he again declined to enter a plea, according to authorities.
