The hearing scheduled Friday for two suspects accused of kidnapping a San Jose handyman and forcing him to perform home repairs in Morgan Hill was continued, authorities said. 

Incidents in the Gilroy Police Department press report occurred between Jan. 31 and Feb. 4 and include suspicious circumstances, gang assaults, grand theft and DUI. 

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Corner's office reported Monday that Kayleigh Booten, 20, is the San Martin woman who died when the vehicle she was driving rolled over on Monterey Road early Saturday morning.

The arrest of a 14-year-old Britton Middle School student on suspicion of bullying last week was not the first such incident in Morgan Hill, and police and school officials say that such behavior can lead to long-term serious problems for students and thus will not be tolerated.

The Gilroy Police Department's Traffic Unit will conduct a DUI/Drivers License Checkpoint from 9 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday at an undisclosed location within the city limits.

Gilroy Police made numerous arrests Jan. 17-25, including for robberies, theft, DUI and hit and trespassing.

This week Gilroy Police responded to a variety of crimes Jan. 21-24, including burglaries, petty theft, animal bite, lewd and lascivious act, DUI and hit and run.

Two recent money-making scam attempts targeting elderly South County residents have prompted Morgan Hill police to issue a warning to the community, with some simple advice to avoid being victimized.

Authorities charged a 65-year-old Morgan Hill man who sexually abused four children over a period of several years with eight counts of child molestation. 

An elderly couple arrived at their Morgan Hill home just before lunchtime Thursday and opened their garage door to find a strange mini-van in their parking spot with a man they had never seen before inside the vehicle, police said.
