Police responded to several incidents of car theft this week, as well as random acts of violence at various Gilroy businesses, both at the expected locals – such as a bar in the early hours of the morning – and the unexpected - a pizza parlor around lunchtime. Here are a few standout events:

Walton & Sons Masonry upset Franco Imports 29-11 Tuesday at Christmas Hill Park to leave both teams at 2-1 in first place in the Men’s Fall DD League standings.

The Gilroy Business Political Action Committee, or GilPAC, is hosting a fundraiser at Fortino Winery from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Sept. 19, where guests can wine and dine with local candidates, officials and business leaders.
