Single vehicle accident on U.S. 101 near Leavesley
Gilroy firefighter/paramedic David Gutierrez talks to one of the backseat passengers of the vehicle involved in the rollover accident on northbound U.S. 101 near Leavesley Monday. Juana Escobar's two daughters and a niece were returning to San Jose after picking Escobar up from work in Gilroy when mechanical problems caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The car slid sideways into the medium and then rolled over. This passenger had moderate injuries and the others involved had minor injuries. Three were treated at St. Louise Hospital and the driver was flown to a San Jose trauma center for observation.
