Ronald Sjoerd van Dam

Ronald S. van Dam passed away peacefully on March 4, 2009. Ron, as his friends called him, was born in Malang, Indonesia and had many endearing stories to tell about his homeland. He was a WWII veteran and a survivor Japanese POW camps in Burma and Thailand. After living in San Jose, Mountain View, and San Diego, Ron moved back to Morgan Hill in 1989 to be close to his two beloved children and grandchildren. Ron always had a constant sense of humor and witty charm. He enjoyed setting up his model trains, built aviaries for his canaries and finches and usually had an aquarium going. As a Jehovah's Witness, he had a strong spiritual faith and looked forward to the blessings of Jehovah God's incoming kingdom. Ron will be deeply missed by his family and friends. A private celebration of Ron's life will be given at his daughter's home on Sunday, March 29, 2009.
