I read Successful Smaller Downtowns & Business Districts: What Every Businessperson, Property Owner, and Municipal Official Should Know, by John L. Gann Jr., and got some inspirations for downtown Gilroy.
Farm to Table at the garden was a hit; more are coming
Succulent fare, a beautiful garden ambiance, fine wine and clucking chickens, the hits at the first Farm to Table Dinner this year at the Gilroy Demonstration Garden. Volunteers from the garden hosted the evening as part of a fundraising drive to keep the Eden of downtown Gilroy on Eigleberry Street growing, but also to celebrate community and to show off seven years of progress of the community garden.

April 1: An unknown person committed forgery, stealing a victim's checks from the mail on Monte Bello Drive. The suspect wrote a check for $760 for a Best Buy gift card.
Donation box vandalized
Gilroy’s first box to have people donate food and give it to others for free was vandalized last week. Someone ripped off the left door. The box on Monterey Street near El Charrito Market was the result of three good Samaritans who want to help people in need.
