Gilroy Garlic Queen contest to Gilroy Gardens

For the first time, the annual Miss Gilroy Garlic Festival Queen Pageant will be hosted at Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park. The pageant will be held on Saturday, May 13 at 3:00 pm on the Lakeside Amphitheater stage. As part of the “Bigger, Better, Bolder” theme for the 2017 Gilroy Garlic Festival, this year pageant contestants will be eligible for even bigger awards, including a $7,500 Christopher Ranch scholarship prize for the Queen.

New business gives new perspective

There’s a new alternative for developmentally disabled adults and their families in Gilroy now that New Perspectives has opened its doors at 6400 Monterey Road. The sparkling facility, housed in the old Gilroy Dispatch building, is loaded with activities such as an art room, computer room, kitchen and even a stage that includes musical instruments such as guitars, a keyboard and a drum set.
