Gilroy schools spend millions to help Special Ed students

GILROY—Gilroy schools spend $9,425 per year to educate a student, but in one case the figure is $134,160, more than 14 times the average.

Police blotter: Sept. 22 to 29

Gilroy police made arrests for a variety of crimes over the last week, including felony attempted robbery, driving under the influence, assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful sexual intercourse. Arrests were recorded in the Gilroy Police Department blotter between Sept. 22 and 29.

Get library cards now; Batman and storytime

September was National Library Card Month and the Gilroy library used social media to promote it. New patrons receiving their first card were photographed next to an oversized library card. The photo was then posted to the library’s Facebook and Instagram accounts as a way to increase “the buzz” about library cards.
