Doomed Fifth Street elms temporarily saved by nesting birds?
There may be a reprieve for several iconic American elms slated for the saw, if an arborist’s inspection in June discovers that birds are nesting in the lush green canopy lining Fifth Street in the heart of Gilroy.
McTeacher’s fundraiser this Wednesday for SVMS
South Valley Middle School will benefit from a McTeacher's Night fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McDonald's, located at 797 First St. in Gilroy. The restaurant will donate a portion of its sales from that time period to the middle school.
