The Dr. TJ Owens Gilroy Early College Academy, a small high school located on the Gavilan College Campus at 5055 Santa Teresa Boulevard, is holding an informational meeting at 6 p.m. Nov. 15 in room SS-214.

Seniors celebrated one of their last days as a class Friday with

Rosino LeGan, a 17 year old Gilroy resident and senior at Mount Madonna School, is this week's "Student of the Week."

Thank you. I am honored to represent the Class of 2012! Our parents would probably agree that it wasn’t very long ago that we began our journey in kindergarten. We entered the classroom holding our parent’s hand and with Minnie Mouse or Power Ranger backpacks on our shoulders. At the time we were nervous, scared and excited. I know that I cried, but once it started and friends were found, the path was easier. I know that I will always be grateful to my first teachers. They taught me to read and that opened the world to me.  

Gavilan College board president Laura Perry responded in a letter to Assemblyman Luis Alejo to claims by an advocacy group that the Gavilan board should re-agendize its October approval of the president's $42,000 pay hike in light of allegations trustees violated the state open meetings law in their decision.
