Fall Choir Concert Scheduled

Gilroy – Gilroy High School Choral Program presents the Fall choir concert at 7:30pm Wednesday and Thursday at St. Mary Church, First and Monterey streets. Doors open at 7pm, tickets are $3 and available at the door. All proceeds go toward the choir’s transportation fund. The program features five choirs: men’s chorus, women’s chorus, concert choir, concerto delle donne and chamber singers.

Gage to Speak at Chamber Forum

Morgan Hill – Santa Clara County Supervisor Don Gage, who represents South County, will speak at the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce Business Forum from noon to 1:30pm, Wednesday. His topic will be “County Issues Impacting South County Region: Now & in the Future.”

The business forum and luncheon will be held at Mama Mia’s Ristorante Italiano, 275 E. Dunne Ave. The cost is $20 for chamber members and $25 for nonmembers. The public is more than welcome and encouraged to attend.

Responsible Dog Ownership Days

Gilroy – As a licensed club of the American Kennel Club, the Gavilan Kennel Club invites the public to celebrate Responsible Dog Ownership Day from 9am to 3pm Saturday, at Christmas Hill Park. They will be offering a meet the breeds fair and a host of fun and educational activities.

Film Class for Those 55 and Older

Morgan Hill – Adults 55 and older can participate in a free class/film series through the Gavilan College Department of Noncredit Instruction. Humanities 767, “Film Classics” is designed to study the facts, fantasy, history and trivia of classic and modern films. The background and history of each film and its performance will be compared and contrasted. Films will be screened at Morgan Hill Community Playhouse Wednesday afternoons from 2 to 5pm, through Dec. 5.

Learn About Legal Resources

Morgan Hill – Adults 55 and over are invited to take a free noncredit class in legal resources. The class will provide information on planning for the future, elder law, wills and estate planning, power of attorney, and health care directives. The class is an open entry format, meaning participants can begin attending at any time. The class is offered Wednesdays through Nov. 14. Session I is from 2:30 to 5:30pm, and session II is from 6 to 9pm at Gavilan College Morgan Hill; Room 12; 17060 Monterey Road.

Lion’s Club Meeting

Auditions Scheduled for ‘Swing Shift’

Gilroy – The Gilroy Community Services Department and John Bisceglie are conducting auditions for “Swing Shift.” Come be a part of this 1940s all singing, all swinging musical revue, performing at Gavilan College this January.

Auditions will be held Saturday, Oct. 20 at the Gilroy Senior Center, 7371 Hanna St. Ages 5 to 9 at 10am, 10 to 14 at noon and 15 through adult at 2pm.
