I keep reading in the Dispatch that the new Las Animas School is outside the Las Animas landgrant boundaries.
According to my Thomas Guide, the new elementary school being built off Luchessa Drive is still clearly INSIDE the Las Animas Spanish land grant boundaries which continue south past the Gavilan College golf course to the San Benito County line.
That being the case, no name change is necessary and the traditions surrounding the current name can remain intact.
