GILROY – A three-run rally in the sixth inning sparked No Soup 4 You past Covenant 7-6 Sunday in a battle of Men’s DDD League unbeaten softball teams at Las Animas Park.
Trailing 5-4 through five frames, Soup responded with consecutive one-out singles by Kurt Gitmed, Richard Luna and Reynaldo Lara to tie the game. Julian Santiago delivered a game-winning two-run single.
The victory moved No Soup 4 You to 4-0 while Covenant slipped into a three-way tie for second place at 2-1.
Jason Jones and Jesse McGraw each stroked a single and double for the Soup. Joel Haferbecker went 2-for-3 and scored three times and Todd Maria lined a single and triple, scoring twice for Covenant.
Hector Jaso came off the bench to hit a three-run home run to highlight an 18-3 Bay Sheets nod over the Plunderers. Robert Gerrenger went 3-for-4 and scored three runs for the 2-1 Sheets. Kurt Maltman went 2-for-3 for the Plunderers.
Dan Keith Septics broke a 13-13 tie with five runs in the top of the seventh inning to earn an 18-16 win over Victory Outreach.
Rich Furtado opened the Septics seventh with a triple, scoring on a Randy Newton double. Furtado and Newton each homered in a seven-run sixth that created the 13-13 deadlock.
Whitney McDougall went 3-for-4 and Danny Rubalcaba homered for Septics. Rudy Tellez went 5-for-5 and Ralph Ortiz homered in a three-hit, five-RBI night for Victory Outreach.
Terrance Blackman went 5-for-5 with a three-run homer to pace unbeaten Krazy Koyotes-Dutchman’s Pizza to an 18-7 Co-Rec B League win over Dee’s Nuts and Cherries Sunday at Las Animas.
Joleen Carrasco and Benny Sanchez each went 4-for-4 and Everett Wallace lined a three-run homer for the 4-0 winners. Dave Perez drove in two runs and Rico Lopez scored twice for Dee’s.
Feather Haven Mill is 3-1 after a 9-2 decision over Gaeta’s Taqueria. Cherie Somavia hit a two-run triple and scored three times for the Mill. Charlie Roe went 3-for-3, John DeCarlo Jr. 3-for-4 for the winners. Matt Piedmont homered for Gaeta’s Taqueria.
