Lorene Yates died Thursday evening January 19, 2016 after a long illness. She is survived by her siblings Jerry Hebble, Grant Hebble and Cordeal Delson; sister in law Kasey Allen; her children, Zach Yates, Edie Yates and Karl Yates; son in law Yiping Lim; daughter in law Sarah Yates; her grandchildren, Leonard and Ada Lim, and Jackson Yates, and her many and beloved nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Yates and her parents, Jacob Grant Hebble III and Edith Lorene Hebble.
Barbara Lee (Rianda) Zamzow passed away at her home on March 4, 2008, at the age of 73. She is survived by her children, James (Dixie) Zamzow of Hollister, Nancy (John) Bozzo of Gilroy and Carol (John) Johnston of Smith Valley, Nevada, grandmother of Annie and Erick Zamzow, Matt and Catie Bozzo and Jessica Johnston, sister-in-law Lois Presba, cousins, Christine Flautt, Sharon Pappani and Ernie Pavese. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many beloved friends. Preceded in death by her Husband Norman Zamzow and her parents Roy and Josephine Rianda. she was a native of Gilroy. Mrs. Zamzow graduated from Gilroy High School then attended Hartnell College in Salinas. She was a longtime 4-H member and leader, a member of the Honor Society, WITS and St. Mary Church. She enjoyed traveling, cross stitch, and lived for her children and her beautiful grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, March 7, 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00P.M. at Habing Family Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, March 8, 2008 11:00A.M. at St. Mary Church, in Gilroy. Burial will follow at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park, in Gilroy. Donations in her memory to a favorite charity are preferred and appreciated.
Frank A. Messina passed away at his Hollister home at the age of 82. He was born in San Jose and lived in Hollister since 1971. He served in the US Army and was a member of Sacred Heart/St. Benedict’s Church. He worked as a plumber and farmer, forklift driver, worked for Denice and Felice and worked until he was 80 years old.
Angie Silveira passed away at St. Louise Regional Hospital July 1st at the age of 86 years. A native of San Jose, CA, Angie graduated from James Lick High School, attended Nursing School, and moved to San Juan Bautista in 1959 with her late husband Manuel Silveira. Angie worked as a nurse for over 30 years. Angie will be remembered riding with her late husband Manuel as a "matched pair" in various parades up and down the state of California; locally in Santa Clara, San Benito, & Merced Counties; at Los Banos, King City, and Chowchilla. They were very active in the Future Farmers Of America, also with the World's Fastest Draw Association---participating in Shoots and Shows at the San Benito County Fair and all through the state of California. They were both members of the N.R.A. and San Jose Horseman's Assn. In addition to being a homemaker, she and her husband raised crops and livestock on the family ranch in San Juan Bautista. Surviving Angie are her children and their spouses Pete Silveira, wife Diane of Hollister, Manuel Silveira, wife Lynn of Washington, Jim Silveira, wife Pat of San Jose, Henry Silveira of Morgan Hill, Betty Weldon, husband Abe of Elk Grove, Delfina Sheets, husband Randy of San Juan Bautista; 32 grand children, 40 great-grand children, and 4 great-great -grand children, several nieces, nephews and relatives living in the San Jose area.
Ramiro B. Garcia entered into rest March 23, 2008, Easter Sunday at the age of 83. He was born in Donna, Texas came to Hollister and later to Gilroy in the mid 40's, he was retired from Gilroy Foods, a member of the Teamster's Union, St. Mary's Church and was an avid hunter. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children Victoria Velador. Mr. Garcia is survived by his children Adolf (Linda) Garcia of Oklahoma, Suzanne (John) Trujillo of Susanville, Sylvia (Frank) Dutra of Morgan Hill, Robert Garcia of Indiana, Sandy (Gordon) Fortino of Gilroy and Ramiro Jr. (Rey) Garcia of Quatar. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, March 29, 2008 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Church. Vigil Services will be Friday, March 28, 2008 at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M.
Rose Falcone passed away Saturday morning at the age of 100. She was born in San Francisco coming to Hollister in 1974. Formerly she was Chief Deputy Superintendent of Schools for Lake County, CA. Member of Sacred Heart Church, I.C.F. and Druids of San Francisco.
