Bill Throgmorton, D.V.M. March 3, 1931 – January 28, 2012

Bill died peacefully at his home in Gilroy after a courageous battle with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis disease.) His early schooling was in Salinas where he met his wife. He then served in the U.S. Air Force and attended UC Davis graduating with a degree in Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Bill and four fellow students realized a need for equine research. Off campus they evaluated hundreds of horses under stress with the proven results continuing to be used as guidelines by fellow veterinarians and horsemen to this day. Dr. T. started his Gilroy career in 1963, where his love for animals allowed him to continue his research and share his knowledge nationwide.

Roberto “Bob” Ortega March 11, 1939 – January 31, 2012

Roberto " Bob" Ortega went home to be with the Lord after a brief illness, on January 31, 2012, at the age of 72. He was the beloved husband of Nellie Robinson-Ortega, loving father of Lupe Vasquez and stepchildren Lisa Chavez Nino, Jess Perez, Michael Chavez and many loving grandchildren. Survived by brothers Primitivo Ortega, Armando Ortega and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his sisters Luz Villasana and Rosario Ortega. He will be missed by all and forever in our hearts

Harold Horton Oberg October 24, 1920 – January 26, 2012

Harold was born October 24, 1920 in Madrone, California near Morgan Hill. Graduating from Live Oak High School class of 1938, he then attended Hartnell College majoring in Aviation and Engineering. With the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941, he enlisted and was sent to Cal Aero in Chino California, then to advanced training at Luke Field Arizona. Commissioned first Lieutenant, he ferried airplanes around the world with the Air Transport Command. Post war he returned to Salinas and managed the Salinas Valley Airport and developed flying schools in King City and Paso Robles as well. In addition to teaching flight, he flew Airlines, and for many years had a crop dusting business servicing the Salinas Valley. Harold retained his status in the Air Force as a Liaison Officer to the Air Force Academy, retiring after 40 years service as Lieutenant Colonel. The adventure then began as! Harold and his beloved wife of 68 years Mary Jane traveled the world. Active in many local organizations his one constant love was aviation. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jane, son Bob Oberg and will be forever missed by his daughter Kristine Hernandez, grand children Anne Nunez, Vickie Hernandez, Christopher Hernandez, Amelia Hernandez, great granddaughters Nicole and Natalie Nunez, Justine Osuna, great great granddaughter Callie Jayne Costa and sister Elena Oberg Moreno. An afternoon to reminisce, open house will be held at the Salinas Airport Terminal-The Landing Zone, Saturday February 25, 2012 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm.

Jacob Shane Gonzalez September 12, 1991 – January 28, 2012

Jake was a vibrant, intelligent young man. He graduated from San Benito High School in 2009 with honor roll. Currently, Jake was attending Gavilan College and on his way to earning his degree in Criminal Justice. He aspired to work in Law Enforcement once he graduated. He spent much of his free time in the outdoors camping, fishing, and riding quads with his family and friends.

Rosa L. Zuniga, September 8, 1961 – January 27, 2012

Rosa L. Zuniga was a life long resident of San Juan Bautista. She loved her position as a teacher at Mi Escuelita Pre-School in San Juan.

Richard Cancilla, December 3, 1922 – January 26, 2012

Richard Cancilla, 89, died peacefully at his home in Morgan Hill, CA, on January 26, 2012. Richard was born December 3, 1922, in San Jose, CA. Richard is survived by his wife, Eunice, daughter and son in law, Charlotte and Jim Johnston, son David, his late son, Allen Quezada, and step-son and daughter in law, Dean and Dottie Latham, and many loving grand-children and great-grandchildren. He was the youngest of three, and brother to Joyce and Phyllis. He graduated from Santa Clara High School in 1940 in San Jose, CA. After working in the ship yards, he then went to work for the State of California until his retirement in 1977. Richard was a member of the Woodland Estates Board of Directors and was very active in many projects and activities within the park.

Luciana A. Davis, March 2, 1930 – January 14, 2012

Luciana A. Davis, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, and friend to many passed away on January 14, 2012.  Memorial will be held February 3, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. at the Pacific Mobile Home Park Club House.  All family and friends most welcomed to attend.
