Jack M. Schachleiter passed away in Gilroy at the Village Green Residence on Friday, May 28th, 2010, age the age of 90 years. Jack was a native of Youngstown, OH; came to California at the age of five with his parents who settled in Long Beach. He lived in Long Beach, graduated from Long Beach Poly-Hi; attended University Of California at Davis until July 1942 when he entered the U. S. Army. He served three years in the European Theater as a paratrooper and was a recipient of two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star. Jack made one last jump in honor of his 75 birthday. Upon his discharge Jack settled in the Merced/Tulare area until his retirement in 1973. He was the owner/broker of the S.I.A. (Schachleiter Insurance Agency). Upon his move to Cayucos he still served many of his clients, but devoted a greater percentage of his time to the game of golf. He was the last member of the Davie's Street (Cayucos) Slushi-Lushies; belonged to the B.P.O.E. of San Luis Obispo, the American Legion Post No. 1000 of Morro Bay, and the Leslie L. Garratt Post No 6459 V.F.W. of San Juan Bautista.
Pat Flores passed away in Santa Barbara, CA on May 21, 2010, at the age of 66. Born in Greely, CO, Pat lived in Hollister since 1953. Pat is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Jose Luis Flores; her son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Amy Flores of Fowlerville, MI; daughter Joyce Flores of San Jose; daughter Ana Flores and partner David Tipton of Santa Barbara; sister Pilar Carranza and family of Madera; sister Carmen Castillo and family of Hollister; and her three grandchildren: Isabella, Gabriella, and Anthony Flores. Plus many more family and friends.

A woman of compassion, open-mindedness, a love for nature: beloved mother of Pamelah Stephens of San Jose, Keith Stokes, deceased, Kelly Garcia of San Martin, son-in-law Ted Garcia and step-son Don A. Drake, wife Gail. She is the beloved wife of Donald Drake of Gilroy for 37 years. She passed away peacefully on May 25, 2010. She took great pride in her family and her volunteer work in California State Parks. She was proud to be a fourth generation California native with a family that had always been involved in preserving and caring for nature and working with local and State politics.
Chad Cleaver went home to be with his Saviour on May 25, 2010. Although born with Down's Syndrome and suffering through many illnesses and surgeries, he managed to find enjoyment in many simple pleasures. He is finally free of this earth's chains. He adored his brothers and sister and will be sorely missed by all his family and friends including parents Gary and Jodie Cleaver, siblings and their families - Jason Cleaver (Sarah, Brayden, and Jaelyn), Jeffrey Cleaver, Rebecca Cleaver (Michael Sanchez), and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Celebration of his life will be held Saturday, May 29, 2010, at 12 noon at Advent Lutheran Church, 16870 Murphy Ave., Morgan Hill.
Jesus Atkinson, Sr. passed away at Doctor's Medical Center in Modesto, CA, peacefully, surrounded by his family. He is survived by two brothers from CA, three sisters from AZ, and six children, Teresa Atkinson Hall, Wanda Atkinson Rodriguez, Jesus Atkinson, Jr., Pastor Franco Alberto Atkinson, Sr., Rodrigo Ray Atkinson and Narciso Atkinson. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren.
