Former Congressman Charles S. Gubser, of Gilroy passed away peacefully at age 95 in Fresno, CA. Gubser was born in Gilroy, CA to Charles H. and Ella Gubser. He attended local schools, graduated from San Jose State Junior College in 1934 and UC Berkeley in 1937 earning a degree in Economics. He continued on with two years of post-graduate work, taught at Gilroy HS for four years and also began farming following the death of his father in 1940. He was elected to the Calif. State Legislature in 1951, serving 1 term. He was then elected to the US House of Representatives as a Republican in 1953, re-elected for 10 more terms, serving a total of 22 years. He retired to Colorado in 1974. In 2005, he moved to Fresno to be closer to his family.

Viewing will be held at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home on Monday, July 6th, 2015, from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friends will leave the funeral home at 10:30 A.M., on Tuesday for a Mass of the Resurrection at Sacred Heart Church at 11:00 A.M. Maria Gomez passed away in Hollister at the age of 87. She was born in Guasti, CA and lived in Hollister for many years returning in 1970.

She had been a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Golden Colorado; was a representative for Hollister with the Sister Cities with Japan; and active with the March Of Dimes Program in San Benito County. A home maker most of her life.  Dorothy is survived by husband Danny; son Westly Pannell of Santa Cruz; daughter Kim Pannell and grandson Dillon of San Jose; brother Jim Wilson ( spouse Cora) of Kansas; nephew John Wilson and family of Oklahoma; nephew Clint Wilson and family of Colorado; niece Tammy Kiley and family of Kansas; brother-in-law Albert Torres (spouse Cyndee) and! family of Hollister; friends Lisa McShane (Mark) of Hollister, and George Pannell of San Diego; as well as numerous other family members and friends.

ADELA S. CHAPA passed away suddenly at home in Gilroy Thursday, May 3, 2007. Mother of Joe G. Chapa (Yolanda) of Modesto, CA, Robert Chapa (Leticia) of Gilroy, Rene Chapa (Gloria) & Estella Gonzalez (Baldo), both of Gilroy. Grandmother of Mario, Danny, Laura, Anthony, Robert, Mark, Stevie, Cindy, Maryann, Sally, Rosanne, Janae and the late Gabriel, . great-grandmother of 21, sister of Esmeralda Gonzalez of Texas and the late Nestor Salazar. Also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
