Elvira M. Hernandez, preceded in death by her husband, Faustino R. Hernandez, who passed away in 2007. Known to her family as "MAMA", she passed into the Lord's arms at her home on Monday afternoon, surrounded by her loving family. Elvira was born in Aldama, Guanajuato, Mexico. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her children; Ignacio Faustino (Daisy) Hernandez, Rose (Alex) Hernandez, Cesareo Hernandez, Carmen Hernandez and Beatriz "Bette" Hernandez. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one sister. Elvira worked at Gentry's for approximately 25 years. She was the happiest during family gatherings and she loved to cook for her family. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting and sewing. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. A visitation will take place on Monday, March 17, 2008 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. with a vigil service to commence at 7:00 P.M., both at Johnson Funeral Home, 17720 Monterey Street in Morgan Hill. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Catherine Parish, 17400 Peak Avenue in Morgan Hill. Interment to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Entered into rest in Mountain View. She was born in Los Angeles and lived in San Benito County since she was a young girl. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and liked to play bingo here and in Reno. Her hobbies were collecting miniature elephants and doing jigsaw puzzles. Her great love in life was her family and spending time with them. She married her husband, Rudy, in 1960 in Tres Pinos.
Passed away at home Monday, March 10, 2008. She was a loving wife of John Furtado of Gilroy and loving mother of Carlos Furtado of Idaho, Manuel, George and Rosa Furtado all of Gilroy. She was a grandmother of 17 and a great-grandmother of 18. She was a native of San Miguel, Azore Islands, Portugal.
Victor passed away at San Leandro Hospital at the age of 52 years. He was a agricultural worker all his life. Recitation of the rosary will be Thursday at 7:00 P.M. at Grunnagle Funeral Home. The Mass will be Friday at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church. Interment, Calvary Cemetery.
Pepe was a long time Gilroy Food Employee, most recently living in Winton, CA. He is survived by his dear wife of 56 years, Lupe Cordova, loving father to John Cordova, Steve (Bertha) Cordova, and Martha Cordova, brother of Manuel, Robert, Jesse, Emma, and Connie; 9 grandchildren and 10 great -grandchildren.
Entered into rest in Salinas at the age of 64. He was born in Hollister and lived here all of his life. He served in the US Army from 1967 to 1969 and was a member of Sacred Heart Church. He worked most of his adult life as a truck driver last working for El Modeno Gardens. In his free time he enjoyed playing pool and liked to bowl.
Passed away at his Hollister home at the age of 55. Arrangements are being made for private cremation with burial at sea through Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home and Gavilan Hills Crematory.
