Albert “Al” Juarez April 1, 1953 – August 28, 2016

l passed away suddenly and peacefully on Sunday surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his parents Apolonio and Lupe Juarez; his partner Nancy Esquivel; his children: Jacqueline Juarez, Albert Juarez, Christina Juarez (Carlos), Yvette Juarez (Matthew), John Paul Juarez (Kammie), Adrian Juarez, and Olivia Juarez; his siblings: Esther (Edmund) Trujillo, Margaret (Felipe) Galvan, Terrie (Fred) Trujillo, Olga Juarez, and Sandi (Ruben) Garza; 18 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; his Godson Nick Rabago, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Born and raised in San Juan Bautista, he attended local schools including San Benito High School. Al was also a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. His final resting place will be at the Central Coast Veterans Cemetery in Marina.

Dolores M. Hernandez

Dolores M. Hernandez passed away in Hollister at the age of 92. She was born in Patillas, Puerto Rico.

Michael A. Hauser January 21, 1946 – June 8, 2015

There will be a memorial service held at the Guglielmo Winery, 1480 East Main Avenue in Morgan Hill, on July 12, 2015, at 3:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, suggested donations to the John Manning Memorial Scholarship, Live Oak High School 1505 E. Main Avenue, Morgan Hill, CA 95037 would be much appreciated.

Dr. Bruno F. Paul March 28, 1931 – February 21, 2013

A memorial service and a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 30th, 2013, from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M., at 535 Ocean Boulevard in Coronado, CA. The family requests that instead of flowers, a donation be made in his name to the Polish American Association of San Diego, 1934 30th St. San Diego, CA 92101.  Bruno F. Paul, MD, beloved husband and best friend of Anna Paul passed away at the age of 81. I will remember him as “The Most Unforgettable Man.”  On March 28, 1931 he was born in Newark, New Jersey during the”Greatest Generation” era. He was born of Polish Immigrants Paul and Johanna Fik.  Living in Newark, NJ, every Summer Bruno went to the Polish Falcon Camp. He said, “These were my formative years.” Here he worked as a lifeguard, participated in gymnastics and in other sports. This is where he met his lifelong dear friends: Joe Sak, Bobby Tobin, Joe Biesiadecki, Frank Gubernat, and Hank Sadowski. He also grew up with Alfred Borkowski whom also is a dear friend. These relationships have endured over 68 years.  Bruno attended Seton Hall Preparatory School in South Orange, NJ. He then received his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Rutgers University. He we! nt on to earn a Master of Science in Mathematics from Montclair State University in New Jersey. He then served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After this he worked as a High School Math Teacher and as a Mathematician at the Picatinny Arsenal up to working for Hughes Rocket Propulsion in California. He went back to school and then graduated from the University of Southern California School of Medicine as a Medical Doctor, specializing in General Practice. He graduated with this degree in 1965.  Dr. Paul worked in Carmel, CA before purchasing a practice in Morgan Hill, CA and then moved his office to Gilroy, CA. He was a loyal, unselfish, dedicated and outstanding doctor to the rural population of Santa Clara County, which consisted of patients who were migrant workers, factory workers, farmers and also Silicon Valley Professionals.  He served as a physician for over 30 years. If a patient could not afford to pay, he would accept barters such as lettuces, fruits a! nd flowers or would simply say, “get better.”  After retirement, Dr. Paul moved to Coronado, CA and delved into reading and his love for walking along Ocean Boulevard. He was a proud member of the Polish American Association of San Diego, an associate member of Coronado Republican Women Federated, the Coronado Senior Center, a lifetime member of the Coronado Chapter of Veterans of Foreign Wars and loved all the ladies of the Bridge and Bay Garden Club of Coronado.  Bruno F. Paul, MD is survived by his sister Elvira Kadau of Bloomfield, Michigan. By daughters, Dr. Carol Davis of Long Island, NY, Elizabeth Sakurai of Santa Monica, CA, Kathi Pershall of Morgan Hill, CA, and Alexis Paul of San Francisco, CA, step-daughter Lisa West of Coronado, CA and step-son Jonathan Akonni of Coronado, CA, grandchildren Larry Davis, Jr., Carrie Davis, Dylan Sakurai, Kristofer Dominguez, Kaitlyn Pershall, Kamryn Pershall, Benjamin West, Garland West, and Talin Akonni. “ Our Father had a presence about him that was larger than life. He also loved us unconditionally and we will truly miss him.”

Thomas Frank Castro

Tommy passed away quietly in his sleep at St. Louise Hospital in Gilroy on December 14. He is survived by Loa Castro, his wife of 59 years,and sister, Mary (Jim) Duncan, of Gilroy; children: Gordon (Cindy) Castro of San Jose, Dennis Castro of Newman, Richard (Susan) Castro, and Patty (Dan) Alvarez of Gilroy; brother-in-law G.B. Smith of Gilroy; and his lifelong friend, Richard Masoni of Gilroy. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Tony, Eddie, and Manuel Castro, sister Lena Coutinho, grandson Aaron Castro, and brother-in-law Sonny Smith.
