Pintello Comedy Theatre presents “The Foursome,” a golf comedy by Norm Foster, at Coyote Creek Golf Club in San Jose on April 1-2. The play, directed by Marion Pintello and produced by Rob Pintello, stars Kevin Heath, Rob Langford, Dave Leon and Jason Stebbins.

Tickets for the dinner shows are $50, with a champagne reception at 6:30pm, dinner served at 7pm and the show at 8pm. All reservations require a credit card. Limited seating available.

All-Star hoops game

The Kiwanis Club of Salinas is pleased to announce the 19th Annual North-South All-Star Basketball Classic will be held on Saturday, April 9 at Hartnell College. The game will involve the top-graduating seniors from the Tri-County (Santa Cruz, San Benito, and Monterey) area playing their first college format basketball game. The girls will play at 6pm. and the boys play at 7:45pm.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Kiwanis Club of Salinas and Sunrise House, a youth/family counseling/crisis center in Salinas, which deals with alcohol and other drug-related problems.

Rosters will be released on March 31, 2005.

49ers Gold Rush auditions

What: The San Francisco 49ers Gold Rush cheerleaders are holding auditions for the 2005 football season.

Who: More than 350 women from across the United States and several applicants from Japan as well.

Where: Santa Clara University, Leavey Center, 500 El Camino Real, Santa Clara, CA

When: Sat., April 2, 2005. Registration begins at 8:30am. Auditions begin at 10am.

Finalists selected on April 2, must be available for an interview Sunday evening, April 3, and the final dance audition on Tuesday evening, April 5. Information regarding time and location will be given to finalists at the conclusion of preliminaries.

Play Golf America coming

The Northern California Section of the PGA is pleased to announce its Section-Wide Play Golf America Weekend Open House scheduled at courses and range facilities throughout Northern California and Northwestern Nevada on Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 17 from 11am until 3pm. The Play Golf America Open House is designed to welcome local residents to nearby golf facilities so they can learn more about player development programs including clinics and classes for new and returning golfers. PGA Professionals will be on hand to provide free golf tips to attendees. Information about booking tournaments, golf outings, corporate banquets and weddings will also be available.

Gilroy tennis club tourney

On March 12, the Gilroy Tennis Club held its annual Luck O’ the Irish Tournament. Fourteen women played singles at Gilroy High School and 20 men played doubles at Las Animas Park.

Elena Ayala won the ladies’ singles and Theresa Crowley was the finalist in the 3.4/3,5 category. Jamie Reynolds was the champion and Lora Bozzo was the finalist in the 2.5/3.0 division.

In the men’s doubles competition, the 8.0/9.0 winners were Bob Schuman and Dave Okada. The finalists were Pat McBrearty and Stephen Thiessen. In the 6.0/7.0 division, Mark Hansen and Albert Merko were the champions and Paul Wheeler and Ed Grisetti were finalists.

The next club tournament will be the Tax Relief Women’s Doubles and Men’s Singles on Saturday, April 9.

Barnstormers rarin’ to go

Come on out and join us! The Barnstormers semi-professional football club has called Gilroy their home for the last three years. The team is made up of players from the surrounding cities such as Hollister, Morgan Hill and Salinas.

Hoops camp in Gilroy

The 10th Annual Basketball Jones Hoops Camp is set for Aug. 1-5 at St. Mary’s School, 7900 Church St. in Gilroy. The camp runs 8am-4pm and is open to boys and girls ages 7-15. The fee is $190 for the week; $170 if you sign up before May 15.
