Big Kahunas begin with 7-4 win over Just 4 Fun
GILROY – Danny Benz went 3-for-4 Thursday as Dutchman’s Pizza-Big Kahunas opened the Co-Rec Winter C League season with a 7-4 nod over Just 4 Fun at Las Animas Park.
Vicki Groppe scored twice to key the Kahunas offense. Art Naranjo scored twice and Linda Contreras lined two singles for Just 4 Fun.
Jerry Johnston hit a grand slam as Radiator Doctor topped EKS Concrete-California Fun Jump 27-4 in the twinbill nightcap.
Jesse Marquez went 4-for-4 and Stephanie Johnston went 4-for-5 to pace the Radiator offense. Will Lawrence doubled and tripled for EKS-California Fun Jump.
Mike Howe went 4-for-4 and Dave Meacham drilled a home run and two triples as Handmade Healthcare opened the Co-Rec B League with a 19-3 victory over Let’s Do This Thursday at Christmas Hill Park.
D.J. Simpson scored three runs for the winners. Suzie Romero and Ruben Lujan each delivered two hits for Let’s Do This.
Selia Bonia went 4-for-4 and scored four runs as Gaeta’s Taqueria defeated Krazy Koyote 19-4. Dee Dee Del Valle and Steve Martinez each went 3-for-3 and scored three Gaeta’s runs. Bobby Garcia hit a grand slam for Krazy Koyote. Benny Sanchez added a double and single.
Ray Kledsen and Leroy Dozal hit home runs as Lopez Vending Machines stopped Feather Haven Mill 19-1. Steve Lemberger and Marco Lopez added four hits to the Lopez Vending attack. Tim DeCarlo scored the Feather Haven run.
