Dear Editor:
This letter is to recognize the faculty and staff of Gilroy High School for the quality of the students graduating from high school this year.
I have had the privilege and pleasure of serving on the Scholarship Committee for Chapter CG, PEO, which is a philanthropic educational organization dedicated to the education of women, and in this capacity participated in the review of 15 applications for college scholarships submitted by graduating senior girls.
The caliber of the applicants and the grade point averages were so high that it made it extremely difficult for us to arrive at a decision as to which of the applicants were most qualified.
I have been a member of PEO for more than 40 years and for many of those years have participated in the scholarship program for Chapter CG. We have assigned scholarships for graduating students bound for schools ranging from Gavilan to the University of Notre Dame, and I have been constantly reminded over that time of the high standards met by our Gilroy students.
