I have to say first, I have been a fan of Jeff Garcia for a couple of years now. When I first heard Scott Forstner’s story on Garcia going to Tampa Bay, I was reading it on Bernies Insiders, and as a lifelong Cleveland fan, I was really disappointed (even though I was a supporter of Tim Couch through these rough years).
Then, just as you said, I was laying in bed and I heard that he was going to Cleveland from ESPN. I was so excited I ran downstairs to tell anyone that would listen. Too bad everyone in my house is a Steeler fan. To the point, I think you played it right as well.
In this world you have to take chances. Sometimes they pan out and sometimes they don’t. If it wasn’t for your story I never would have heard of you, and probably millions of other people wouldn’t have either. Your newspaper should be proud of you.
Honestly I never even heard of Gilroy or Hollister before (“Crazy Week Comes To An End” was posted on the Insider site as well).
