Auto burglary

A purse, cell phone, credit card and cash, total value of $290, were stolen from a silver 2000 Buick Le Sabre parked near the intersection of Oak Glen Avenue and Willow Springs Road in Morgan Hill, between 1:15 and 2 p.m. Dec. 13. The suspect or suspects smashed a window to get into the vehicle, causing $200 in damages.

Residential burglary

A laptop valued at $1,200, a silver 2002 Toyota 4Runner valued at $4,400 and credit cards were stolen from a possibly unlocked residence on the 8600 block of El Matador Drive, between 7 p.m. Dec. 10 and 7 a.m. Dec. 11. One of the credit cards was later used at a nearby gas station.

Vandalism

A blue 2006 Toyota Corolla parked on the 13000 block of Monterey Road was painted on, causing more than $400 in damages, between 9 p.m. Dec. 10 and 8:30 a.m. Dec. 11.

Grand theft

A laptop valued at $1,500 was stolen from the trunk of a black 2007 Chrysler 300 parked in a driveway on the 10500 block of Center Ridge Avenue, between 10:30 p.m. Dec. 10 and 6:30 a.m. Dec. 11

Check fraud

A woman from the 1500 block of East Main Avenue in Morgan Hill tried to buy a patio canvas off the Internet classifieds listing, Craigslist.com, for $1,100, but the seller sent her a check for $4,800. The seller told the woman to cash the check and give the people moving the canvas the excess $3,700. However, the woman found that the check was fraudulent and did not complete the transaction.

Recovered stolen vehicle

Deputies found an illegally parked gray 1990 Honda Civic near the intersection of Watsonville and Redwood Retreat roads and discovered it was reported stolen out of Mountain View, 10:30 p.m. Friday.
