An unknown person posted an ad for employment on Craigslist
using the Christopher Ranch name between 10:12 a.m. March 8 and
3:37 p.m. March 11. The ad was not authorized by Christopher Ranch
and was designed to solicit personal information from the applicant
that possibly would be used in future identity theft or fraud.
Sheriff’s arrests

Under the influence of a controlled substance

Alicia Gomez, 35, of the 9600 block of Monterey Road in Morgan Hill at 9:56 p.m. March 12 at her home after she displayed symptoms of being under the influence and admitted to smoking methamphetamine the previous day.

Ray Ward, 48, of the 200 block of Dunne in Morgan Hill and Mary Hernandez, 40, of the 17700 block of Parkway in Morgan Hill, 9:21 a.m. March 12, on the 13600 block of Mammini Court in San Martin after deputies were dispatched concerning prior cock fights. Both arrestees displayed symptoms of stimulant usage and Ward had a small amount of methamphetamine in his coin pocket. Ward was on parole and Hernandez on active probation.

Other sheriff’s incidents

Petty theft

A black fanny pack containing miscellaneous electronic items, personal documents and money valued at $284 was stolen from a room at the Care Meridian Sub-acute Hospital on the 11000 block of Center Avenue, between 8 p.m. March 14 and 12 p.m. Sunday.

A license plate was stolen off a 2005 blue Chevy Blazer from Monterey Mushrooms Farm on the 640 block of Hale in Morgan Hill, between 5:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. March 11.

Burglary

A cyclone fence and a padlock to a storage shed were cut and a mig welder valued at $600 was stolen from near the intersection of Monterey Highway and Richmond Avenue in Morgan Hill, between 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

A heavy-duty angle drill valued at $300 was stolen from a barn at Egg Ranch near the intersection of Canada Road and Angelo Lane, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Feb. 28.

Residential burglary

A beige Fender guitar amp valued at $500 was stolen from a garage on the 12100 block of Llagas Avenue in San Martin, between 9 a.m. March 8 and 11 p.m. March 11.

Unauthorized use of personal information

A female victim’s personal information was used to gain access to her Wells Fargo bank account. The unknown perpetrator transferred $997 from the victim’s account to an unknown Wells Fargo account at 10:26 a.m. Friday.

Forgery

Checks were stolen and a man’s signature was forged to buy goods from a store on the 13000 block of Sycamore Avenue in San Martin, between 12 p.m. Feb. 17 and 12 p.m. Feb. 20.

Recovered stolen vehicle

Deputies recovered a 1993 black Honda Civic at 4:30 a.m. March 15 near the intersection of Day Road and Jean Ellen Drive that had been stolen out of the Gilroy Police Department on March 4.

Deputies recovered a 1989 grey Toyota Camry at 4:25 a.m. March 14 near the intersection of Westwood Drive and First Street that had been stolen out of Gilroy.

Vandalism

Two John Deer tractors on the 3000 block of Roop Road were vandalized, between 12 p.m. March 11 and 8:30 a.m. March 12.

A 2001 black Ford F150 parked near the intersection of Hill Road and Tennant Avenue in Morgan Hill was scratched with a key on the hood, all four sides and the tailgate, between 5:20 p.m. March 12 and 7:10 p.m. March 13.

A window at the South County Community School on the 100 block of North Depot in San Martin was broken, between 2 p.m. March 10 and 7:30 a.m. March 11.

Identity theft

Theft

A black handbag containing items valued at $100 was stolen from an unlocked brown Ford parked in front of a residence on the 500 block of Church Street in San Martin, between 9:35 p.m. March 11 and 7:15 a.m. March 12.

Grand theft

Five-hundred and sixty dollars in cash was stolen from a cash box at the Tri-County Veterinary Clinic on the 2600 block of Pacheco Pass Highway, between 12 p.m. March 9 and 5 p.m. March 10.
