A burglar or burglars cut the pad lock off a trailer carrying

A burglar or burglars took about 30 boxes of laptops and parts
from a truck trailer on Chestnut and Ninth streets, 7:48 p.m. Jan.

Recovered vehicle

A vehicle stolen out of San Jose was recovered in the area of East Sixth and Alexander streets, 1:24 a.m. Jan. 24

Grand theft

A thief or thieves entered a backyard of a residence on the 7500 block of Dowdy Street and took two Shoie Motorcycle helmets valued at $860, between Jan. 18 and 24.

A thief or thieves took a brown leaf blower valued at $500 from the back of a vehicle parked on Monte Vista Way and Fourth Street, 2:10 a.m. Jan. 24.

A thief or thieves entered a residence on West Ninth Street and stole jewelry, watches and other items, total value of $1,200, 7:11 p.m. Jan. 26.

A thief or thieves took jewelry and personal items, total value of $3,235, from a home, between June 2007 and April 2008. The homeowner had a renter living in one of the bedrooms and suspects it might have been him.

A thief or thieves stole a bicycle valued at $1,600 from in front of a house on First Street, 8:05 p.m. Jan. 27. The custom BMX bicycle had a maroon frame, white handle bars and an orange front tire rim.

A thief or thieves stole a bike valued at $419 from a Kern Avenue residence, between 9:30 p.m. Jan. 24 and 8 p.m. Jan. 25. The Scott Aspect 50 had a black frame, head and rear lights, and green caps.

Found property

A yellow Vertical Outreach mountain bike was found on Nicole Way, Jan. 23.

A purple and pink Hardrock Specialized mountain bike was found, 11:24 a.m. Jan. 25.

Petty theft

A person attempted to steal 12 grocery items valued at $163.88 from a store in the 900 block of First Street, 12:09 a.m. Jan. 24.

A thief took two bags of Doritos chips valued at $7.98 from a business on the 700 block of First Street, 9:28 a.m. Jan. 26.

Missing juvenile

A 7-year-old ran away from his home on East Seventh Street, 4:11 p.m. Jan. 24. He is a chronic runaway.

A female on IOOF Avenue was reported missing, 9 a.m. Jan. 24.

A juvenile ran away from a home on San Miguel Street after an argument, 4:30 p.m. Jan. 28. This was the third time the child has run away.

Fraud

An unknown person attempted to pay with a counterfeit travelers check, 5:50 p.m. Jan. 24. The person was told the travelers check was not valid and was last seen getting into a red Ford wagon and driving south on San Ysidro Avenue.

Someone bought more than $330 worth of merchandise at Target on Camino Arroyo using counterfeit $20 bills, 9 p.m. Jan. 27. The counterfeit currency was collected and booked into evidence.

A Kern Avenue resident made an online purchase in the amount of $86, Jan. 14. Upon checking her account, she discovered she was charged twice for the purchase. The report was requested for documentation only.

Injury accident

A vehicle traveling westbound through the intersection of Arroyo Circle and Leavesley Road hit a stopped car in the right rear wheel, causing the struck vehicle to roll on its roof, 1:51 p.m. Jan. 25. The drivers of both cars were transported to Saint Louise Regional Hospital with complaints of back pain.

Auto burglary

A burglar or burglars broke into a locked vehicle in the parking lot of 7931 Miller Ave. and took several items valued at $757, between 9 p.m. Jan. 24 and 11:30 a.m. Jan. 25.

A burglar or burglars smashed a driver-side window of a vehicle on Pierce Street and stole a $20 ArmorAll car cleaning kit, between 2:30 and 6:30 p.m. Jan. 25.

A burglar or burglars broke a window of a vehicle in the 8100 block of Kelton Drive and took items valued at $300, 7:06 a.m. Jan. 26.

A burglar or burglars took a car buffer, miscellaneous DVDs and cash from a vehicle on Rancho Hills Drive, 10:07 a.m. Jan. 26.

A burglar or burglars broke into a locked vehicle on Westwood Drive and stole miscellaneous CDs in a black and blue case valued at $200 and personal paper work, between 4:35 p.m. Jan. 25 and 4 a.m. Jan. 26.

A thief or thieves entered an unlocked vehicle on Loupe Court and stole a Maggellan 4040 GPS unit valued at $350, between 4:30 and 6 p.m. Jan. 24.

Two juveniles grabbed a woman’s purse from her shopping cart on First Street and ran, 8:49 p.m. Jan. 26.

A thief or thieves stole a rear license plate from a car on Fairview Drive, 12:01 p.m. Jan. 27.

A thief or thieves stole frozen Digiorno’s pizza and an 18 pack of beer from a store on First Street, 11:17 p.m. Jan. 27.

A thief or thieves entered an unlocked car on Laurel Drive and stole an Eddie Baurer rain jacket valued at $300, 2:15 a.m. Jan. 28.

A thief or thieves stole a GPS unit, CDs and miscellaneous coins, total value of $179.99, from an unlocked vehicle on Laurel Drive, between 5 p.m. Jan. 27 and 7 a.m. Jan. 28.

A thief or thieves stole an iPod valued at $80 and miscellaneous identification and social security cards from an unlocked vehicle on Westwood Drive, between 8 p.m. Jan. 27 and 9:30 a.m. Jan. 28.

A thief or thieves stole a 12 pack of 40-ounce King Cobra beers from an unspecified place on Old Gilroy Street, 3:10 p.m. Jan. 28.

A thief or thieves stole a drivers license, wallet, checkbook and ATM card from an unspecified place on Church Street, between 10:30 and 10:45 a.m. Jan. 11.

A thief or thieves stole a bike valued at $320 from a Kern Avenue residence, between 9:30 p.m. Jan. 24 and 8 p.m. Jan. 25. The Giant Boulder bike had a blue frame, a front head light and a U-lock around the frame.

Assault

An unnamed person was assaulted on IOOF Avenue, 10:50 p.m. Jan. 25.

Road laws

An unspecified vehicle was towed from Cypress Court and Ponderosa Drive for an unspecified violation, 10:44 a.m. Jan. 26.

Non-injury accident

A non-injury traffic collision occurred in the parking lot of 641 Leavesley Road, 12:47 a.m. Jan. 26.

A vehicle hit a pedestrian at First Street and Miller Avenue, 5:36 p.m. Jan. 28.

Stolen vehicle

A 1992 white Honda from San Luis Obispo was reported stolen at the Gilroy Police Station, 7301 Hanna St., Jan. 26.

Animal bite

An unnamed person was bitten by a dog on Willy Court, 5 p.m. Jan. 17.

An unnamed person was bitten by a dog on Monterey Street, 9:05 a.m. Jan. 26.

Residential burglary

A burglar or burglars entered a garage on the 6300 block of Berrybush Court and stole a clear or frosted sink, two brown Coleman sleeping bags, black rock tile and a doormat, total value of $550, between 5 p.m. Jan. 24 and 2 p.m. Jan. 25.

A burglar or burglars stole a PS3 Playstation and various games, total value of $941, from a residence on Pappani Avenue, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Jan. 27.

Assault

A domestic dispute occurred on Valley Oaks Drive, 5:05 p.m. Jan. 27.

Three males attacked a juvenile male with a bat and rocks on Martin Street, between 5 and 5:30 p.m. Jan. 27.

A male shoved his father after a verbal argument and left the residence on West Ninth Street before the police arrived, 10:13 p.m. Jan. 28. Prosecution was requested by the victim.

Commercial burglary

Three suspects pried open the rear door to a cell phone store on San Ysidro and attempted to break into a secure area, 3:17 a.m. Jan. 28. The suspects were unsuccessful and left before police arrival. Nothing was taken from the store.

Robbery

An unknown man concealed three CDs valued at $32.15 and walked out of Wal-Mart store, 3:10 p.m. Jan. 28. He was confronted by the loss prevention security guard and a struggle ensued. The suspect slipped away and was last seen running southbound away from the store.

Vehicle tampering

An unknown person tampered with a 2001 white Chevrolet on Monterey Road, between 10:15 p.m. Jan. 27 and 8 a.m. Jan. 28.
