Nine Christopher wrestlers walked away victorious Wednesday following the team’s 57-24 win at North Salinas.
Dean Agustin (106), Felipe Duenas (113), Jimmie Lopez (120), Mario Anchando (126), Raul Meza (138), Alex (170), Zak Taylor (195) and heavyweight Navi Pannu all won by pin. Jacob Myers (160) won by a score of 10-5.
Adam Mena (132) lost 6-3, while Keanu Calimpong (145) lost 3-2. Anthony Figueroa (152), Ray Tapia (180) and Collins Oroknowo (220) all lost by pin.
Christopher will hit the mats at 8 a.m. Saturday when it competes in the Firebaugh Varsity Tournament.

Mustangs drop league opener
 
It was a hard fought game for the Gilroy boys soccer team during Thursday’s Monterey Bay Gabilan League opener, but things just didn’t go the Mustangs way.
 
Gilroy lost 4-2 at Watsonville, dropping to 5-2-1 on the season (0-1-0 in league).
 
The teams were locked in a 2-2 tie at the half, after Emmanuel Cruz netted his fifth goal of the season and Luis Urias scored his first for Gilroy. Gasper Figueroa had an assist. 
 
Gilroy will be back in action at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday to host North Monterey County.
