Gilroy Mustangs

Both Gilroy water polo teams made a splash on Tuesday.
The boys and girls picked up their first wins of the year as both defeated their Everett Alvarez counterparts at home.
The girls kicked off the sweep with an 11-7 win and the boys followed up with a 14-9 victory.
Stats and scoring from these games were not available.
The Mustangs will be back in action to take on Harbor on Sept. 25 at Santa Cruz High School. The girls (1-2) will play at 6 p.m., the boys (1-4) at 7 p.m.
FIELD HOCKEY
Mustangs top Del Mar
The Gilroy field hockey team turned a last minute schedule change into a 3-1 win at Del Mar Tuesday.
The undefeated Mustangs picked up the game after their Los Altos game, originally scheduled for today, was cancelled.
Katrina ‘KC’ Carter scored two goals and Maddy Cox netted the other against Del Mar. Gilroy also saw the return of Tayler Silacci who had missed time due a pulled hamstring.
“Her voice on the field is one of our biggest strengths,” GHS coach Adam Gemar said of Silacci. “Her ability to organize the defense and vision to open up the midfield is instrumental.”
The Mustangs (8-0-1) will hit the road and take on Davis at 3:30 p.m. Friday.
