Gilroy – Sexual abstinence and pornography are the targets of a community-wide youth rally Sunday at Gilroy High School.

Pure Revolution ’05 is an event that challenges youth ages 10 to 25 to practice sexual abstinence. The event will feature local bands Novice and Expose The Flaw and hip-hop artist Willie, as well as free prizes and interactive games.

The rally also will focus on the negative effects pornography can have on relationships and society.

“It’s a challenge for these young adults to take more responsibility for their sexuality,” said Mike Zukowski, director of the rally and youth pastor at South Valley Community Church.

Students will have an opportunity to visit the Love Shack, where counselors will be on hand to discuss sexual issues and help answer questions.

The keynote speaker will be Mike Foster, pastor and founder of XXXchurch, a national ministry working to bring awareness, accountability and recovery to society in regard to pornography.

“Pure Revolution is not about condemning people and their sexual behavior. It’s about challenging people to set a higher standard and set goals in their sexuality,” Foster said.

Foster, along with Pastor Craig Gross of XXXchurch, star in a documentary called “Missionary Positions,” which chronicles two young pastors who set off to educate the world about the dangers of pornography. The film will debut March 11 at Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose.
