Political leaders, educators and an editor from around the area will read books to children on Saturday as part of Barnes & Noble Booksellers’ “Season’s Readings: One Million Books for One Million Children.”
The event will include readings by Congressman Mike Honda, Santa Clara County Supervisor Don Gage and Gavilan College instructor Rachel Perez
“We’re very grateful for their support and willingness to help us reach out to the community,” says spokeswoman Mary Ellison.
The program begins at 10am with an early visit by Santa with picture taking opportunities for parents. Lani Yoshimura, Head Librarian for the City of Gilroy Public Library, will begin the reading at 10am, followed by Gilroy Mayor Al Pinheiro at 10:30am. Honda will be reading at 11am, followed by Gage reading at 11:15am. Perez will read at 11:30pm followed by Mark Derry, the editor of the Gilroy Dispatch. Barnes & Noble is located at 6825 Camino Arroyo in Gilroy.
