Johnny’s Bar and Grill captured the regular-season title of the Men’s Winter BB League Friday with a 21-15 victory over the Good Fellas at Christmas Hill Park.
Johnny’s (6-1) erased a 3-1 deficit in the second inning with a nine-run rally that included two hits each from Benjie Casarez and Kenny Hopf.
Jim Gruber and Abie Espinosa socked home runs for the Bar and Grill. Casarez finished with five hits, Hopf, Esco Hernandez and Gruber each finished with four.
Rich Perez was the most effective offensive player for the Good Fellas with a two-run home run and two doubles. Mike Hernandez powered a triple and two singles for the Good Fellas.
Team Talamo moved into a second-place tie at 4-3 with Obata Farms by outlasting Bike Center 18-6.
Team Talamo responded to a 5-4 deficit in the third inning with an eight-run uprising. Bobby Garcia and Jose Bueno tagged run-scoring doubles. Garcia added a second double and home run. David Gaeta went 3-for-3 and scored three runs for the Bike Center.
Obata Farms claimed a forfeit win from Craig Avila Bail Bonds.
Bad News clinched the Men’s Winter CC League’s regular season crown Friday by defeating Countryside Daycare 21-14 at Las Animas.
Juan Gutierrez bashed a home run, triple and double, Jose Gutierrez a home run and two doubles as Bad News improved to 6-1. Ricky Salinas went 5-for-5 with one home run and Pete Quintanar went 4-for-4 for the winners.
Brian Sullivan (5-for-5) and Charlie Roe slapped home runs for Countryside.
Aladdin Bail Bonds-Rhino Wiring claimed a forfeit win over Pro Electric (4-3). Fritter-Schulz Physical Therapy-Humboldt Brewing (4-3) took a forfeit win over the Boss Hawgz (4-3).
Sunday’s action in the co-rec leagues was postponed because of rain.
