eighth inning Thursday to upset Heinzen Manufacturing 12-11 in
Men’s E League adult softball play at Christmas Hill Park.
Gilroy – The Assassins struck for three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning Thursday to upset Heinzen Manufacturing 12-11 in Men’s E League adult softball play at Christmas Hill Park.

Heinzen trailed 9-8 after six, then managed the equalizer in the seventh when Luke Corona drew a two-out walk and Dave Clark tripled.

Spencer Straub and Tom Martinez each garnered a base hit and scored in the top of the eighth for Heinzen. A one-out error, a Joe Benavides double and Ivan Acevedo triple tied the score. Gabriel Corona’s RBI-single lifted the 1-1 Assassins to the win.

Benavides took game batting honors with four hits.

Walton & Sons Masonry earned a share of first place at 2-1 with a 16-9 decision over St. Mary Men’s Club.

John Serrine went 3-for-4 and Jason Mesa provided a single and double while scoring three Walton & Sons runs. John Macedo went 3-for-3 and Bob Filice lined a pair of RBI-singles for St. Mary Men’s Club.

SVCC Sons of Thunder reached 2-1 by outlasting the Titans 9-5.

Jim Hansen, Gil Miranda and Pat Boyd each collected two singles and scored twice for Sons of Thunder. Johnny Ramirez went 3-for-3 and Jim Reimer homered and doubled for the Titans.

VFW Bingo became the first team in the Gilroy Community Services Department program to reach 3-0 with a 17-`13 verdict over Tony’s Embroidery Thursday in Men’s EE play at Las Animas Park.

Chris Stainton hit a home run, two doubles and a single to spark the VFW offense. Mike Perry stroked four singles and Vinnie Randazzo added three hits and scored three Bingo runs. Anthony Lucio went 5-for-5 with a sacrifice fly for Tony’s Embroidery. Robert Muro scored four Tony’s runs.

Arnold Vasquez and Tony Zepeda each singled and doubled in a 14-run sixth inning as Victory Outreach stopped Team Beefy 31-7.

Zepeda (5-for-5) and Vasquez (4-for-5) each scored five runs. Jake Farotte singled and doubled for Team Beefy.

2NQ improved to 2-1 with a 24-15 win over the Good Ole Boys. Nick Magee went 6-for-6 and Ryan Kearns homered in a five-hit performance for 2NQ. Pat Chris went 4-for-4 and scored four runs for the Good Ole Boys. Ron Paterson collected four hits and Bob Schoeneman highlighted a three-hit night with a three-run double.
