Red Phone: Low branches need to be cut

The intersection of Leavesley and Murray needs to be re-timed.
There needs to be a pause between the lights turning red and the
other direction turning green.
“The intersection of Leavesley and Murray needs to be re-timed. There needs to be a pause between the lights turning red and the other direction turning green. I see red lights run on a daily basis. Also, The left turn signals on Murray are too short. What can be done about this intersection?”

and …

“What’s up with the stop lights at the intersection of Forest Street and Leavesley Road? If traveling east or west on Leavesley, life is good. If you are trying to make any left turn or cross Leavesley, there is an extremely long wait for the light to go green. I’ve been at that intersection at a red light for up to 150 seconds waiting for a green light. On more than one occasion, I have even been skipped while waiting and never got a green light.”

Red Phone: Dear Stuck At Lights, Unlike the lights at Santa Teresa Boulevard and Mantelli Drive a reader called about a couple weeks ago, this section of lights along Leavesley Road is under Caltrans jurisdiction rather than under city control. Crews took a look at these two intersections, which are next to each other, earlier this week and made some minor adjustments in the timing, said Caltrans Public Information Officer Bernard Walik.

“They went through with a fine-tooth comb and made some tweaks,” Walik said. “They didn’t notice anything major wrong. The calibration does get off from time to time. It is like a funnel where it backs up at one end. We try to watch it so it doesn’t back up into residential streets.”

In addition, Lights in this area are set to two different timers, staying greener longer in the morning and being shorter in the afternoon, Walik said.

So hopefully that should fix the problem. If you still notice issues let Red Phone know. Be sure to include the time and the specific direction you are heading so crews can pinpoint the location.
