Pre-registration for the sixth-annual Silicon Valley Puzzle Fest is now open at the event website, www.svpuzzle.org.
Puzzle Fest will be held Saturday Jan. 28, and Sunday Jan. 29, at the Morgan Hill Library. Free puzzle-themed workshops will be held Saturday and the exciting sudoku and crossword puzzle tournaments are set for Sunday.
Saturday’s workshop schedule is still being finalized, so check the Silicon Valley Puzzle Fest web site in the weeks to come for additional updates. Organizers are working on an exciting schedule of workshops led by four-time ACPT champ and Wordplay star Tyler Hinman, frequently published crossword constructor Andrea Carla Michaels and many others.
Sunday will feature the sudoku competition in the morning and the crossword competition in the afternoon. Three-time sudoku world champion and five-time US puzzle champion Thomas Synder is providing puzzles for the sudoku tournament, and Will Shortz, puzzle editor of the New York Times, is providing yet-to-be-published crossword puzzles for the crossword tournament. Puzzle Fest will also feature exciting youth tournaments for puzzlers younger than 16.
Silicon Valley Puzzle Fest benefits the Morgan Hill Library Foundation, which is an alliance partner of the Morgan Hill Community Foundation. Workshops are free, and donations of $25 for adult tournament competitors and $10 for youth tournament competitors are suggested.
