PREP ROUNDUP: CHS volleyball upends GHS

Josue Salgado scored on an assist from Jose Romo, and freshman goalkeeper Carlos Arroyo posted a three-save shutout to lead Christopher’s boys soccer team to a 1-0 home win over Monte Vista Christian on Thursday.

Christopher won its third straight match by a score of 1-0, improving to 7-4 overall and 4-1 in the Monterey Bay League Pacific Division.

“Our defense is top of the league,” Cougars coach Ricardo Espinosa said. “It says a lot about our freshman goalie.”

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Christopher 47, Alisal 27 – Hanna Tabron scored 13 points, and Christa Arroyo and Olivia Tabron added 10 points each to lead the Cougars past the visiting Trojans.

Natalia Castro paced Alisal with 10 points.

BOYS SOCCER

Pajaro Valley 2, Gilroy 1 – The host Mustangs lost in the final minute to the Grizzlies.
